Abstract
A novel approach to adapting the weights of single-layer perceptron ba sed channel equalisers is proposed, using the log-likelihood cost func tion and the resulting algorithm. Developing equalisers with this appr oach allows simpler computation, faster convergence and lower estimati on error in comparison with the traditional back-propagation algorithm .
