Abstract
Photolysis of CpW(CO)(3)Me (1) in n-heptane generates mostly the solva ted intermediate CpW(CO)(2)Me ... n-heptane (2), detected by time-reso lved infrared spectroscopy (TRIR). The reactions of 2 with CO, PPh(3), and N-2 have been studied and appropriate second-order rate constants obtained. A small amount of the radical CpW(CO)(3.) (5) is also gener ated on photolysis of 1 and can be characterized by the photolysis of [CpW(CO)(3)](2) (6).
