Abstract
Dichlorodiphenyllead(IV) acts, through an oxidative-addition process, as a phenylating reagent on [Pd(N,N-chelate)(olefin)] substrates. The previously unknown [PdPhCl(dmphen)] (dmphen 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanth roline) compound has been synthesized and characterized by an X-ray st ructural analysis. The reactions of this complex and of its related ca tionic species [PdPh(dmphen)(MeCN)](+) with ethylene and propene have also been studied.
