Abstract
The quantum dynamics of a mechanical subsystem interacting with a ther mal bath is studied. A new approach to dissipated quantum mechanics is proposed which is based on the thermodynamic treatment of the energy balance. Simple application of the theory to ideal gases is considered and equations for the evolution of the main average quantities are de rived.
