Abstract
Fourier-sgace crystallography gives a simple unified account of extinc tions in elastic scattering from periodic or aperiodic crystals, based entirely on three-dimensional point group symmetry. That account, whi ch does not rely on viewing an aperiodic crystal as a three-dimensiona l slice of a higher-dimensional periodic crystal, is summarized and ex plained.
