Abstract
In a previous paper, Fe-Si alloys having the DO3 crystal structure of ordered Fe3Si were investigated using Mossbauer spectroscopy. The shor t-range order around the iron atoms can be described using appropriate binomial distributions, the relative abundances of the various Fe sit es being reflected in the intensities of the corresponding subspectra. The present work is intended to show that deviations from the theoret ical intensities occurring at both ends of the homogeneity range of th e DO3 phase can be explained by the presence of nanometer-sized antiph ase domains.
