Abstract
Interaction of titanium chloride with a cellulose surface and the decu rrent modifications introduced on its morphology were studied by scann ing electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) . The chemical analysis of the surface was carried by X-ray photoelect ron spectroscopy (XPS) and changes in the crystallinity upon chemical treatment was determined by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. Int eraction of titanium with cellulose occurs only at the surface and a d ecrease of its crystallinity was observed with the amount of metal oxi de incorporated into the solid matrix.
