Nm. Alontseva et al., ELECTRIC-FIELD-INDUCED CHARGING OF DROPS AND FIBERS DURING THE JET DISPERSION OF LIQUIDS, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 57(5), 1995, pp. 591-594
The problem of charging the continuous component of a liquid jet in a
longitudinal electrostatic field was formulated and solved. The total
balance of electric current in the jet, including the convective and o
hmic components, is considered with allowance for the effect of a shie
lding of the external electric field by the free surface charge. The e
xperimental plots of the electric current versus the bulk liquid flow
rate and strength of the electric field are determined and are shown t
o exhibit good agreement with the calculated results.
