Ni. Zharkikh et al., LOW-FREQUENCY IMPEDANCE OF DISPERSED PARTICLES NEAR AN ELECTRODE, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 57(5), 1995, pp. 636-639
If the diffusion coefficients of ions are unequal, concentration polar
ization of particles is accompanied by the appearance of diffusion pot
ential arising from the polarization charges emerging in the range of
action of the concentration dipole. In the case of particles located s
ufficiently close to an electrode, some of these polarization charges
emerge on the latter, thus resulting in the additional contribution fr
om dispersed particles to the current and conductivity of a disperse s
ystem. Quantitative estimation of this effect is given.
