The displacement of dodecane from vertical capillaries with a modified
surface by water was studied. Dependences of the contact angles with
selective wetting on the time of preliminary contact of dodecane with
the capillary walls, length of dodecane column, depth of capillary imm
ersion into water, and formation technique of the interfacial meniscus
(under advancing or receding conditions) were obtained. Calculation o
f the hysteresis in theta(12) angles was made for each case, and the e
ffect of the capillary surface on the hysteresis pattern and its value
was demonstrated.
