Abstract
This research investigates the effects of computer-based information s ystems on users and their jobs. Overall, based upon data collected fro m 101 users, the results show that information systems have a positive effect on four of the five core job dimensions (identity, significanc e, autonomy, and feedback). No significant impact is detected for the ''skill variety'' dimension. Results are also reported when users are broken down according to their position in the management hierarchy, a nd their user type (primary, secondary, end-users).
