INVESTIGATION OF THE STATE IN THE WET-END BY USING COMPUTERS

Closing the water circulation system in paper and board manufacture gi ves rise to higher concentrations oi different substances in the water , which often may cause problems. The production process becomes more sensitive to disturbances and variations. Hence, finding reasons to va riations becomes more important.The Finnish Pulp and Paper Research In stitute carries out studies al paper and board machines in order to cl arify the reasons to different variations occuring in the wet end of p aper and board machines. Data from the automation system at the machin e and from own chemical analyzers are collected and stored in a histor y database. The data is taken from the database and inspected visually . Mathematical tools are used in to find reasons and correlations betw een parameters. Solving production problems by using the system is dem onstrated with examples from practical papermaking.
