Lcr. Alfred et Kb. Oldham, THE STEADY-STATE AT A PAIR OF HEMISPHERICAL MICROELECTRODES, Journal of electroanalytical chemistry [1992], 396(1-2), 1995, pp. 257-263
The distribution of electroactive species in the vicinity of twin pola
rized hemispherical microelectrodes has been derived, for any value of
rho, the ratio of the interelectrode spacing to the electrode diamete
r. Thereby, it is demonstrated that the steady-state limiting current
exceeds that at a single hemispherical microelectrode by the factor 4
rho/(2 rho + 1) + exp(- 2.9 rho). The same limiting current is also pa
ssed by a spherical electrode suspended above a nearby plane. Merged h
emispherical electrodes and sphere-cap electrodes are also discussed.
