Abstract
Search for microorganisms kept for a long time in anabiosis at a const ant temperature below zero is of great interest. Nevertheless, the ice core in the Central Antarctica has been neglected by microbiologists for long. Here we present the results of complex glaciological and mic robiological investigation of the ice core in the region of the Russia n Antarctic Station Vostok.
