R. Sudarshana et al., EXPERIMENTS IN SITE SELECTION FOR COASTAL AQUACULTURE USING INDIAN REMOTE-SENSING SATELLITE - IRS-1A, International journal of remote sensing, 14(12), 1993, pp. 2275-2284
In view of the enormous amount of backwater stretches which in princip
le could be potential aquaculture grounds in tropical coastal India, t
here has been a growing interest to map suitable locations for brackis
h-water fish culture. The interest has also grown stronger in the rece
nt days with the launch of India's own remote sensing satellite which
has capabilities on par with Landsat. This attempt envisages to explai
n remote sensing methods of mapping coastal aquaculture areas using th
e inexpensive data of Indian Remote Sensing satellite-IRS-1A.
