Abstract
This note employs chain scattering-matrix descriptions and J-lossless coprime factorizations to develop a relatively simple method for the s ynthesis of the continuous-time H(infinity) suboptimal control. Analog ous to the Youla parameterization of all stabilizing controllers, we d erive an identity to generate all suboptimal controllers. The derivati on we give is carried out in terms of transfer function matrices altho ugh the final formulae are in state space. The approach provides a cle ar connection at the transfer function level between coprime factoriza tions and algebraic Riccati equations that are associated with the sol utions of the problem.
