Abstract
A method for emulsion polymerization of vinyl monomers initiated by ac celerated electrons is described. Contrary to common opinion, the deve loped method is not inferior to gamma-initiated emulsion polymerizatio n with respect to the basic parameters (absorbed dose, polymerization rate, molecular mass of the polymers obtained). We confirm that proces ses of destruction of free radicals in the aqueous phase play an insig nificant role in emulsion polymerization.
