Gas chromatography and IR Fourier spectrometry are used to study the c
omposition of the stable gaseous products from the dissociation of met
hylmethacrylate in rf discharge plasmas (13.6 MHz) in mixtures with ar
gon at various discharge powers (10-100 W), residence times in the act
ive zone (3.8-30 msec), and pressures of methylmethacrylate (0.66-13.3
Pa) and Ar (66-400 Pa). A kinetic scheme for this plasma chemical pro
cess is proposed on the basis of an analysis of the experimental data.
