The thermal stability and mode of decomposition of eleven 2-hydroxyary
loxime chelates with the transition metals Cu(II), Ni(II), and Pd(II)
have been studied in air atmosphere using the TG/DTA technique. In the
case of copper chelates, their thermal behaviour was also studied in
nitrogen atmosphere by TG/DTG. A kinetic analysis of the TG data was p
erformed using the Coats-Redfern method to determine the apparent acti
vation energies and the pre-exponential factor of the Arrhenius equati
on. Mass spectrometry was also used and possible fragmentation pattern
s are given and discussed.
