Re. Mckinney et Jwr. Robertson, EFFECT OF HUMAN-IMMUNODEFICIENCY-VIRUS INFECTION ON THE GROWTH OF YOUNG-CHILDREN, The Journal of pediatrics, 123(4), 1993, pp. 579-582
We retrospectively analyzed the growth of 170 children less than 251/2
months of age who were referred for evaluation of human immunodeficie
ncy virus (HIV) antibody status. By the age of 4 months, the 62 HIV-in
fected children were significantly smaller than the 108 uninfected chi
ldren in both weight-for-age and length-for-age measurements; linear g
rowth and weight gain were proportionally decreased.
