D. Botero et al., SYMPTOMATIC NON-INSULIN-DEPENDENT DIABETES-MELLITUS DURING THERAPY WITH RECOMBINANT HUMAN GROWTH-HORMONE, The Journal of pediatrics, 123(4), 1993, pp. 590-592
In a 12-year-old girl, hyperglycemia and an elevated glycohemoglobin c
oncentration developed after therapy with growth hormone for familial
short stature. Both clinical and biochemical abnormalities disappeared
after therapy was discontinued. The insulin response to an oral gluco
se tolerance test was abnormal 3 months after discontinuation of growt
h hormone; 18 months later, it remained delayed but was normal quantit
atively.
