Postoperative endophthalmitis, which has a dreadful reputation, needs
early and aggressive treatment. Apart local and systemic antibiotic th
erapy, the place of corticosteroid treatment is still discussed. The a
uthors retrospectively compared three groups of patients treated with
appropriate antibiotics but with different corticosteroid. Group I rec
eived high dose corticosteroids early regimen, group II received delay
ed corticosteroids treatment and group III did not receive corticoster
oids. Visual recovery as well as vitreous transparency better in group
I.
