The structure of polyacetylenes formed over tin-palladium complexes in
DMFA, DMSO, and acetic acid was suggested on the basis of IR spectros
copic findings. The effect of the solvent and the co-catalyst SnCl2 on
the polymer structure was discussed. It was shown that disruption of
continuity of the polymer conjugation chain, which occurs during polya
cetylene-doping with the oxidized form of the co-catalyst Sn4+ or solv
ent molecules, probably prevents inactivation of the catalytic center
and promotes formation of high-molecular weight products.
