Abstract
The relationship of the acidolysis and esterolysis reactions in conden sation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) with p-acetoxybenzoic aci d (ABA) was studied using NMR spectroscopy and viscometry. It was show n that esterolysis was of great importance in the interchain exchange reactions, which provide homogeneity of the chain microstructure.
