The decay properties and the magnetic moment of the 548 keV isomeric s
tate in Pr-136 populated in the Sn-122 (F-19, 5n) reaction were invest
igated by pulsed beam gamma-ray spectroscopy and TDPAD measurements us
ing as host metallic Pt at room temperature. The determined characteri
stics of the isomeric state, T1/2 = 90(2) ns, J(pi) = 4+ and g = +0.57
0(19), are explained by assigning to it a dominant configuration pi(1h
11/2) X nu(1h11/2) and an extremely small contribution of configuratio
ns involving proton and neutron positive-parity orbits. Firm spin assi
gnment for the upper energy collective structures can be deduced.
