A model, originally developed for the specific luminescence of thin fi
lms, has been adapted to predict the light-output response (L(E0)) of
scintillator detectors to heavy-ions. The light response is simulated
from purely physical principles and normalized to the experimental L v
s. DELTAE data. Calibration of the detector is therefore facilitated b
y requiring fewer (L, DELTAE) points and can be safely interpolated or
extrapolated into regions where calibration points do not exist. The
model is applied to available data from DELTAE(Si) + L arrays with CsI
(Tl) scintillators.
