Lockhart's remarks (1) on our previous interpretation (2) of the elect
rochemical aspects of the electroosmotic dewatering (EOD) of clay susp
ensions are analyzed to provide some further clarification. Based on L
ockhart's excellent work (1, 3-8), we put forward here novel electroch
emical interpretations of some features of the following experimental
observations: (i) Galvani dewatering; (ii) The dewatering efficiency;
(iii) High voltage needed for dewatering Al-kaolinite and aluminium el
ectrode effect.
