Abstract
Lockhart's remarks (1) on our previous interpretation (2) of the elect rochemical aspects of the electroosmotic dewatering (EOD) of clay susp ensions are analyzed to provide some further clarification. Based on L ockhart's excellent work (1, 3-8), we put forward here novel electroch emical interpretations of some features of the following experimental observations: (i) Galvani dewatering; (ii) The dewatering efficiency; (iii) High voltage needed for dewatering Al-kaolinite and aluminium el ectrode effect.
