Abstract
A survey has been conducted in the Cap-Ferret Canyon area (Bay of Bisc ay) in order to study the role played by the continental margin in the transfer of material from the continent to the deep-ocean (ECOMARGE P rogram). Sedimentological (grain-size, CaCO3 content) and biogeochemic al (Mn, particulate organic carbon, O2 consumption, ETS) parameters we re measured on surficial sediment (uppermost 1 cm).
