Abstract
Several earlier works have presented formulations and solution procedu res for the ''newsstand problem'': a multi-item single-period (newsboy -type) production-inventory problem. The purposes of this paper are: ( i) to present a demand distribution modelling procedure that is necess ary for the practical implementation of many newsboy/newsstand problem s; (ii) to obtain a better understanding of the mutli-constraint newss tand problem by studying the behavior of its optimal solutions.
