Abstract
The results of an experimental study about 85 cases of mast cell tumor s are presented. A great number of young Boxer dogs suffering from tum ors of low grade of malignancy is observed. Epidemiological data are c ompatible with the previous studies. The interest of the Patnaik's gra ding for this tumor is confirmed, with average survival times about 2 years fur the grade II, and 6 months only for the grade III. Corticoth erapy appears as the treatment of choice compared with others chemothe rapy protocols, allowing higher survival times and survival rate over 50% at 30 months. The authors believe that this treatment should be pr oposed in every case of mast cell tumor in the dog.
