The isothermal decomposition of un-irradiated and pre-gamma-irradiated
dehydrated nickel oxalate has been studied in the temperature range 2
50-365-degrees-C. Irradiation appears to increase the number of potent
ial nuclei-forming sites without modification of the mechanism of the
thermal decomposition, which has been shown to proceed by a nucleation
and growth mechanism both for un-irradiated and pre-gamma-irradiated
samples of nickel oxalate. Application of Vand-Primak method for analy
sis of the decomposition data and calculation of activation energies o
f the decomposition process gives a good fit with that calculated usin
g Arrhenious equation.
