Abstract
Correct and complete (to terms of order v/c) derivation of the Poyntin g-Robertson effect is presented. It is based on the idea that aberrati on of light is an important part in the effect of radiation on the mot ion of (interplanetary) dust particle. Derivations are presented for s pherical particles, however, not only for perfectly absorbing ones. It follows from the presented derivations that the Poynting-Robertson ef fect is purely relativistic phenomenon and cannnot be treated in nonre lativistic manner, although results in order v/c are sufficient for ca lculation in the Solar System studies.
