Abstract
If reflected illumination is used to measure residual ink particles in sheets of recycled paper, care must be taken to avoid artifacts from nonuniform surface reflectance. An image analysis instrument has been designed to measure these particles reliably and easily. The ink parti cles on one side of a sheet may be significantly larger or more numero us than on the other side, as demonstrated in some examples.
