Abstract
Invariants dependent on the coefficients of covariance matrices of ell ipses are considered for a pair of ellipses on a plane given as normal two-dimensional sets. The signs of the invariants serve to identify u niquely the mutual position of the ellipses. The information content i s determined for a pair of signals the dispersion ellipses of which do not intersect and lie outside of each other.
