This article presents an ultra-high-throughput network service called
''Netwarp,'' which provides AN instantaneous file transfer service vie
wed by ''timewidth'' instead of ''bandwidth.'' Four breakthrough techn
ologies for realizing Netwarp - the PC-ONU, network DMA, gigabit share
d access, and the Netwarp Router - are described. Sustained throughput
s above 110 MB/s are achieved with a prototype system developed in our
laboratories.
