Abstract
A catalase based biosensor for determining hydrogen peroxide in organi c solvents, operating directly in nonaqueous solutions, was prepared, characterized (using water saturated chloroform as solvent) and applie d in comparative tests using four different anhydrous organic solvents in order to determine their effect on biosensor sensitivity and thus on enzymatic activity in different organic solvents. Results are discu ssed in terms of log P and dielectric constant (DEC) values of the sol vents considered.
