An outbreak of enterotoxaemia was observed for the first time in suckl
ing camels in Saudi Arabia. The animals were weak, diarrhoeic and succ
umbed quickly to exertion. The main pathological findings were those o
f acute catarrhal enteritis and acute myocardial degeneration. Clostri
dium perfringens was isolated from the enteric lesions; Aeromonas hydr
ophila was also identified. The properties of both isolates were studi
ed.
