A 6-year-old female of the Burgos Pachon breed was referred to the Mur
cia Veterinary Teaching Clinic for evaluation of a mass on the left el
bow. Ten months earlier, a mass had been removed from the same locatio
n, and the diagnosis was hemangiopericytoma. On physical examination t
he left axillary lymph node was enlarged. Thoracic radiographs reveale
d two nodular densities. The recommended treatment was amputation of t
he limb followed by radiotherapy, but the treatment was not performed.
A month later, the animal was euthanized and a necropsy performed. Po
stmortem examination revealed that the elbow and lung masses had the s
ame appearance on the cut section. Histologic findings were consistent
with a diagnosis of metastatic hemangiopericytoma.
