D. Fentonlee et al., ROLE OF PORTAL-VEIN CHEMOTHERAPY FOLLOWING FAILURE OF PREVIOUS TREATMENT FOR ADVANCED COLORECTAL HEPATIC METASTASES, British Journal of Surgery, 84(2), 1997, pp. 205-206
The value of hepatic arterial chemotherapy and portal vein chemotherap
y (PVC) for inoperable liver metastases is supported by several prospe
ctive randomized studies, with response rates of 40-60 per cent and a
significant survival advantage for patients(1-3). The role of PVC in p
atients with advanced colorectal liver metastases when other treatment
modalities have failed has not been determined previously.
