Abstract
This study employs data from the 1988 Ghana Demographic and Health Sur vey to assess earlier speculation of fertility change in Ghana The fin dings are cautiously optimistic. Although there is little evidence to support any hypothesis of a fertility turnaround in Ghana, there is so me indication that continued increases in the proportion of women with some secondary education may yet induce a fertility transition in Gha na.
