Abstract
Within the black population of South Africa tuberculosis and leprosy a re endemic. There is also a significant incidence of laryngeal carcino ma. A patient who presented in acute respiratory stridor to a rural ho spital with limited resources is reported. The differential diagnosis and management is discussed in the light of the available literature.
