Abstract
Kinetic proofreading is a strategy used by cells to reduce the number of errors made when replicating and expressing genetic information. Re cent advances in mRNA splicing suggest a variation on the theme of pre viously described kinetic proofreading mechanisms, which may apply to other multicomponent assembly processes in the cell.
