Abstract
The mixed-oxide fuel technology for a liquid metal fast breeder reacto r (LMFBR) in Japan is progressing toward commercial deployment of LMFB R. Based on accumulated experience in Joyo and Monju fuel development, efforts for large scale LMFBR fuel development are devoted to improve d irradiation performance, reliability and economy. This paper summari zes accomplishments, current activities and future plans for LMFBR fue l development in Japan.
