B. Gajkowska et A. Viron, IMMUNOCYTOCHEMICAL EVIDENCE FOR ASSOCIATION OF SY38 WITH NEUROTUBULESIN THE RAT-BRAIN, Neuro endocrinology letters, 15(5-6), 1993, pp. 437-441
Synaptophysin distribution in CA1 region of hippocampus, hypothalamus
and neurohyPoPhysis of the rats was investigated immunocytochemically
using monoclonal antibody SY38. Thin sections of tissues were labelled
with SY38 followed by a secondary goat anti-rat IgG coupled to 10nm c
olloidal gold particles. Immunostaining showed the presence of synapto
physin in the region of Golgi complex in the neurons of hypothalamus,
on the microvesicles of neurohypophysis, on the typical synaptic vesic
les in all the nerve endings, on the small vesicles of agranular axona
l reticulum closely associated with neurotubules, and on some neurotub
ules in hippocampus and hypothalamus. The data support the hypothesis
that synaptophysin has a prominent role in the interaction with neurot
ubules.
