The paper introduces some modifications of the Scheffe Simplex design
in a way to give more information about the characteristics of the sys
tem (product) which is composed of all-available components (fractions
). Namely, experiments arc suggested to be conducted over the all-comp
onent mixtures only, thus giving more informative data basis for deriv
ing a relevant mathematical model. By introducing the pseudo - compone
nts the connection with the Scheffe's design was preserved as well as
all properties of the original method, while the similarity between Sc
heffe's and our experimental ''space'' was used for easy recalculation
of the pseudo- into the real- components. Practical application of th
e idea was demonstrated on an illustrative example.
