Abstract
The optical reflection from the Si(100) 2 x 1 surface has been calcula ted, using the discrete dipole model and local polarizabilities obtain ed from quantum mechanical cluster calculations. Results have been com pared with experimental differential reflectance (Si) and optical anis otropy measurements (Ge).
