Abstract
A method for the determination of beta-lactoglobulin alleles A and B i n sheep is presented. It is based on the polymerase chain reaction (PC R) and a RsaI polymorphism located in the codon of amino acid 20. DNA was extracted from white blood cells and hair roots. The method allows genotyping of male and non lactating animals. The gene frequency of b eta-lactoglobulin alleles A and B was 0.76 and 0.24 in 38 Bavarian Mil k Sheep.
