N. Mielenz, CALCULATION OF RESPONSE TO SELECTION FOR POPULATION WITH PEN (NESTED FULL-HALF SIB) STRUCTURE, Archiv fur Tierzucht, 36(5), 1993, pp. 563-570
In this paper we consider the case of a hierarchial organized breeding
structure typically for poultry breeding. That means the population i
s divided into nested full-halb sib families. The selection is carried
out within the half sib groups (pens) and in order to produce the new
generation the males ''change'' over the hatchs. By using formulas fr
om literature in this paper an approximation for the selection gain is
derived, which results from above selection scheme. The approximation
is found by using a statistical model with fix sire effects on genera
tion one and additional with fix grandsire effects on generation two.
The approximation is compared with Monte Carlo results.
