Abstract
The IR and Raman spectra of two simple tungstates MgWO4.nH2O (n = 1, 2 ) are recorded and analysed. Vibrational bands due to WO42- ions and H 2O molecules are identified. The WO4 tetrahedron is found to be distor ted in both the compounds. The two systems are osberved to be moderate ly hydrogen bonded.
