P. Su et al., SIMULTANEOUS EXPRESSION OF GENES ENCODING ENDOGLUCANASE AND BETA-GLUCOSIDASE IN ZYMOMONAS-MOBILIS, Biotechnology letters, 15(9), 1993, pp. 979-984
As a step towards constructing strains of Z. mobilis capable of conver
ting cellulose to ethanol, DNA fragments encoding endoglucanase (from
Xanthomonas albilineans) and beta-glucosidase (from either X.albilinea
ns or Pseudomonas sp.) were linked on the same vector and transferred
to Z. mobilis. All clones expressed endoglucanase. Beta-glucosidase wa
s only produced by clones containing the Xanthomonas gene, and when tw
o copies of this gene were present the beta-glucosidase activity was h
igher.
